Cecilia Tan Zoraida Córdova: Zoraida Córdova was born in Guayaquil, Ecuador, where she learned to speak English by watching Disney’s The Little Mermaid and Michael Jackson’s Moonwalker on repeat. Her favorite things are sparkly like merdudes, Christmas, and New York City at night.

"As I wrote about punk rock Latin girls and the love lives of college chicks, I kept going back to this fantastically sparkly corner in my brain. (Really, it shows up on CAT scans.) My fantastical creatures were suddenly more real than everything else I was writing. They had the same problems, only with life or death situations putting a greater sense of urgency on everybody’s actions. I attribute this to my love of mythology, folklore, Star Wars, and Buffy the Vampire Slayer."

During a recent NaNoWriMo, I gave the final push and finished it. My agent sold it. And I suddenly I find myself with so many social networking portals, I feel like Alice poking her head around in Wonderland.

The stories you will read from me are my wonderlands. Welcome. Feel free to roam around."
